lemon cupcakes

Hello and welcome to my blog in today's blog is about the lemon cupcakes.The people in my group was Kya,Abbygale,Toni and me. kya's job was to do the mixing. Toni's job was to get the ingredients and tell kya what goes next. Abbbygale's job was to keep our work space tidy and to get equipment eg;spoons and bowls etc.

125g margarine/butter
3/4 cups of sugar
1t vanilla essence
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/3 milk
1.cream margarine in a large bowl, use a wooden spoon
2.Add sugar and continue  creaming until light and fluffy in texture
3.Add vanilla essence and beat briefly
4.Add eggs one at a time, beating well after you have add each egg
5.sift flour and baking powder on to a plate
6.using a rubber scraper, scrape all the mixture off the wooden spoon
7.Add half of the sifted flour /baking powder mix and fold in half of the milk using the rubber scraper
8. repeat step 7 for the next 1/3 of the flour mix and the rest of the milk. don not over mix
9.Add the last of the flour and gently fold this into the cake batter
10.carefully spoon the cake batter in to 12 paper cases
11.bake at 180°C for min then turn oven to fan bake for further 6-8 mins 

Reviews /feedback  my review; the cupcake was light and fluffy good texture but the icing was to runny  
1.stakeholder review very fluffy good flavor balance between the icing and the cupcake base 
2.stakeholder review good flavor in the icing the base was very soft but not that it would fall apart.
The thing i could work on is to make more -this was said the the reviewer.

separating a mixture using Distillation

Hello and welcome to my blog today's blog is about separating a mixture using  Distillation.
Aim: To  separate a solute from a solvent in a solution using Distillation. note: in this experiment  we used coke instead  of saltwater. 

Equipment: A solution of saltwater,conical flask,heat proof mat,a delivery tube and bung,Bunsen burner,tripod,gauze mat,resort stand, boss head clam and a boiling tube.

method 
1. set up the Equipment as shown in picture .
2.Add approximately 50ml of saltwater to your conical flask.
3.light your Bunsen burner.open the air hole and gently push the Bunsen burner underneath the tripod.
4.heat the solution until most of the solvent has been evaporated. turn off your Bunsen burner. 

hypothesis:I think that coca-cola with have more sugar than coke zero but coke zero will have some sugar than none and in the boiling/test tube there with be condensation 

Results: my hypothesis is right there was condensation in the boiling/test tube and there was still sugar in the coke zero.

Discussion: during the experiment the coke started to boiling the boiling was caused by the heat on the element.After that condensation started to go up the delivery tube into the boiling/test tube and making a clear liquid.In the conical flask the sugar melted at the bottom of the conical flask as you can see in the lower picture.

evaporting experiment

Hello and welcome to my blog today's blog is about what we been learning about Evaporation.
Evaporation is  the process of a liquid truing into a vapour.
Aim:To Evaporate copper sulfate.(blue liquid) to from a solute.
hypothesis:I think that it wont from a solute it will just boil.
Equipment: Gauze mat,
Method:
1.set up element
2.add 100ml of hot water to beaker and place on the element.
3.Add copper sulfate to evaporating  dish till quarter full. 
4.carefully,place the evaporating dish on thee top of the beaker.
5.turn on element to 3 .
6.Heat the solution until most of the solvent has been evaporated and crystals of solute are forming.
7.turn off the element-careful not to touch as will be hot for a long time.
observation:the first few mins the water started to boil then when we turn it off most of the liquid was gone.

Dilution Experiment

hello and welcome to my blog today's blog is about an experiment we did in class on Monday the experiment was  to see the dilution to investigate concentration.
Equipment:A potassium permanganate crystal,six large test tubes,tweezers,a plastic transfer pipette,a test tube rack,10ml measuring cylinder.
Method;
1.put all your test tubes in your test tube rack fill one with 10ml and all the rest with 5ml of water.
2.with your tweezers add one crystal of potassium in the test tube that has 10ml wait for the crystal to dissolve.
3.then get 5ml of the mixture from the 10ml tube and put it in the tube next to then get 5ml of that one and put it in the next one and so on.

chocolate chip cookies

Hello and welcome to my blog today's is about the chocolate chip cookies we made in cooking class.
This is the recipe.
100g butter
1/2 cup of white sugar
1/2 cup soft brown sugar
1 egg
1tsp vanilla essence
1 1/2 cups flour
pinch salt 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 cups chocolate chips
They taste quite nice fresh out of the oven by the best when crunchy.
The cookies are easy to make so recommend this recipe.

banana n chocolate chip muffins

hello and welcome to my blog today's blog is about banana n chocolate chips muffins but with a twist.
In cooking we were handed a slip with what has to be add to the recipe or taken away my group was no egg and add egg replace.

1. No egg & 1t vanilla
The colour is gold brown  the smell is so good the taste is beautiful you can taste the banana.
2.1t vanilla The colour is gold its not the best you cant taste the banana.
3.No butter or milk The colur is golden but texture is very mushy the taste is hard to define the taste.
4. Replace the butter with canola oil
The colour is light gold the taste is hard to find
